Chiropractic Care
We specialize in correcting your body’s misalignments. Our goal is to ensure that your spine and the rest of your body are working harmoniously. To do so, we will help you develop a plan that will require light stretching, some exercise, chiropractic care, and a healthy diet.
Cold Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and help accelerate your healing process. Laser treatment can be used on people suffering from acute and chronic conditions in order to eliminate pain and swelling, increase functionality, and reduce spasms.
Corrective Exercises
Corrective exercises are the use of bodily movements and/or postures to restore desirable changes in diseased or injured tissues. The corrective exercises are movement strategies that minimize or eliminate compensation. Corrective exercises should precede more integrated exercises, because they can cue the patient’s motor system to respond in a more desirable way and assist in removing or improving biomechanical constraints.
Custom Orthotics
Custom foot orthotics are designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look similar to insoles, but are biomedical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot while you walk. We understand that everyone is different, which is why custom foot orthotics are made just for you.
Diversified Technique
The goal of the Diversified Technique is to reduce nerve interference. There are no special or unique procedures needed. Patients are assessed using these various mechanisms: history and basic examination (orthopedic and neurologic), palpation, x-ray, leg checks and reflex procedures as well as others.
The procedure involves analyzing the full spine and extremities. The majority of adjustments used in Diversified are manual adjustments, HVLA (high velocity, low amplitude), or long lever manipulations aimed at cavitating the joint and creating an audible release. This sound is known by patients as the “popping” or “cracking” sound associated with adjustments. Some chiropractors utilize specialized equipment such as drop tables or pelvic blocks.
Electrical Stimulation
Electrotherapy is an alternative pain management treatment option that involves the use of mild electromagnetic pulses to provide relief for the patient. This treatment option can dull pain, repair tissue, strengthen muscles, and even improve your blood circulation.
Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is a personalized and integrative approach to healthcare which involves understanding the prevention, management, and root causes of complex chronic disease. It has evolved integrative, holistic, conventional and naturopathic models to offer the most comprehensive and effective approach to healthcare in the 21st century.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesiology Taping is a precise rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints. This technique allows the body’s normal range of motion as well as providing extending soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Kinesio tape is latex-free and hypoallergenic which makes it “skin friendly” for patients with sensitive or fragile skin; such as, patients with diabetes, fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis.
Lifestyle Advice
Our team here at Walsh Family Chiropractic is dedicated to helping you achieve your long-term health and wellness goals by offering you reliable lifestyle advice. If you are not sure if the lifestyle choices you are making are worsening or improving your condition, we are here to help. We address the typical chiropractic issues as well as coach our patients to live a healthier life by looking at the individual as a whole mentally, physically and emotionally.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. There are many types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities). People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons; for example, to reduce stress and anxiety, to relax muscles, to rehabilitate injuries, to reduce pain and to promote overall health and wellness.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is an intervention administered to various patients to alleviate pain or restrictive tissue problems. The release treatment usually involves the application of gentle or moderate pressure on the connective tissues and leads to relaxation and eventual elongation of the fascia therein. These restrictions are often caused by traumatic accidents or inflammations of the soft tissue. Some patients get them as an after-effect of surgery. They always result in muscular tension and spasm of sharp pain. They cannot be detected through standard diagnosis tests like the x-ray scan. It is essential for a patient to visit a doctor or physiotherapy expert once they notice restriction of movement in the hip area or shoulder. Painful backs can also be a sign of the restriction and can only be treated through the Myofascial Release procedures.
If you have never undergone a Myofascial Release procedure before, you might wonder what will be done. There is no need to panic any way, since it is a minor therapy intervention meant to alleviate any pain that could be as a result of fascia muscle pain and restriction. Here is what you can expect if you visit a standard therapist for your myofascial pain treatment.
- The therapist might have to interview you about what you think the cause of the pain could be. They may also palpitate the affected area to identify the particular fascia that needs to be massaged and given due attention during the procedure.
- A standard treatment should last anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour, but should not last longer than that as that may lead to soreness and fatigue.
- You may experience considerable relief, but if the case is severe, you may need to go for another session or two in the subsequent days.
- The treatment does not require the use of any equipment and creams or gels. The therapist will only need their hands to manipulate and apply slight pressure to the trigger points and affected muscles.
Nutritional Consultations
We have all heard the old saying “garbage in, garbage out”. This definitely holds true for our food choices. Just like your car, your body needs the appropriate fuel to run. What do you think would happen to your car if you put something other than gasoline in the tank? You probably wouldn’t get too far. Unfortunately, people pay closer attention to the fuel they put into their cars than they do to the fuel that goes into their body.
Even if you make excellent food choices, you are still not benefiting from all the nutrients that our ancestors received. Over farming, soil erosion, use of chemical pesticides/fertilizers and not rotating crops has depleted many of the nutrients out of our soil, and consequently, our food supply. The apple of today is not as beneficial as the apple your great, great grandmother ate. That is why we believe it is essential to supplement your diet with high quality, whole food supplements.
Other steps you can take:
v Eat organic foods. Organic foods are grown without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Some tests have shown that organic foods have higher nutritional values, and cattle that have been raised organically, are generally healthier. Besides, eating non-organic meat will expose you to growth hormones and antibiotics that are extremely bad for your health.
v Eat most of your foods raw. Heating food over 115° will destroy vitamins and kill the digestive enzymes. If you must heat or cook your food, consider taking a whole food enzyme to aid with the digestive process.
v Avoid processed foods! Processed foods are stripped of their natural nutritional value. Food manufactures will then add chemical vitamins and nutrients to the food to make it sound healthy. The body does not know how to utilize these chemicals so it will try to eliminate them.
v Purify! It is very important to cleanse and purify your body on a regular basis. We normally recommend completing a purification program anywhere from 1-4 times per year. Our body was designed to naturally purify itself of unwanted toxins, however, with all the added pollutants in our air and food, our bodies are unable to keep up. A good purification program, like the one we offer through Standard Process®, will help the body cleanse and keep our organs operating at their peak performance.
These are just a few recommendations to improve your overall nutritional health. You don’t need to make drastic changes overnight to see results. Start out small by eating a raw salad with your meals or replacing your afternoon candy bar with a piece of fruit. Eventually you will start making better food choices and experience improved health.
Happy Eating!!!

Pediatric Chiropractic
Chiropractic care is not just for adults. In fact, more and more parents are seeing the many benefits of their children seeing a chiropractor every single day. Some of the benefits are improved sleep, improved behavior and attitude, and improved immune system function. Children encounter many physical stresses in their life that you may not realize. These stresses can cause your child’s spine to have issues in growth and development.
Physiotherapy
It is important to understand that often times where the pain presents is not the area that needs to be treated. The pain may be due to that area compensating and being over-worked from another area not pulling its weight. Our rehabilitation program includes strength, flexibility and agility training as well as training focused on coordination of body parts and motion to prepare the individual to return to full participation.
Pre/Postnatal Chiropractic
Here at Walsh Family Chiropractic, we offer a conservative approach to treating pregnant women. Our prenatal care is gentle and safe. We aim to alleviate the stress and strains of pregnancy while improving comfort for both the mother and baby. We understand the physical changes that come with pregnancy, and we offer relief without using any drugs.
Spinal Screenings
Sometimes all that stands between your daily pain and a happier, healthier you, is a chiropractic adjustment. Your body naturally wants to be in alignment, and our daily activities can throw what is naturally aligned out of balance. Also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation, chiropractic adjustment refers to the manipulation of the vertebrae that have abnormal movements and are not functioning properly. Here at Walsh Family Chiropractic, we can help you achieve balance and proper alignment, giving you relief and improving your health.
Our goal in treating your joint and spinal issues is to reduce subluxation, increase range of motion, reduce nerve irritability, and improve mobility. Our highly skilled chiropractor will work with you to relieve your pain and get you back to living a pain free and healthy lifestyle.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound therapy is a chiropractic treatment used to help reduce muscle pain and increase range of motion. By using sound waves, we are able to stimulate deep inside the tissue. This minimizes stiffness, swelling, and pain while also promoting circulation, and pain-free movement.
Weight Loss
Weight loss is something with which millions of people struggle. As you know, your weight doesn’t just contribute to your physical appearance. Your weight and the amount of fat in your body can help or hurt your body by contributing to either a healthy physique or lead to medical issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. Weight loss is not just about restricting calories, which is what most people try to do. Weight loss is really about correcting your nutrition, managing your stress, and for some, working with or around chronic diseases and medical conditions.
Worker’s Compensation
Worker’s compensation is a form of insurance that replaces lost wages and pays for medical and chiropractic care for people injured on the job. It typically covers a number of injuries that can happen to nearly any worker. These injuries may occur as a result of a slip and fall accident, tripping over a hazard or on an unsafe surface, or falling off a ladder. For some workers, workers’ compensation will cover injuries that happen while the worker is driving or traveling as part of his or her work duties.
Musculoskeletal disorders affect a person’s muscles, bones, joints and connective tissue, such as tendons and ligaments.
A number of musculoskeletal disorders can keep a worker off the job, including:
- Sprains, strains, and tears
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive stress injuries
- Headaches and migraines
Chiropractic Adjustments
The purpose of the chiropractic adjustment is not necessarily about moving spinal bones but about gently introducing impressions that remove interference to you nervous system. When your nervous system is restored through an adjustment the body is allowed to regenerate and revitalize itself, healing from within. Regardless of technique used, the objective always remains th same.
Therefore, on any given office (according to the pattern of subluxation we see at that time, your age, your size and body type) our adjusting techniques may consist of manual (by hand) adjustments, seated adjustments, table assisted drop adjustments, “non-force” contacts or adjustments using a small mechanical precision instrument.
Furthermore, the doctor would not use the same amount of force to adjust a 110 lb. ballerina and a 220 lb. body builder. Nor would the same force be applied to adjust a baby and an 80 year old grandmother. In fact, adjustments can be so gentle that when given to a sleeping infant, the baby does not wake up.
Our goal is always patient comfort. We openly request feedback from our patient to ensure their comfort.
For those chiropractic veterans interested in specific techniques practiced, they include but are not limited to: Diversified, Thompson Drop, SOT, Impulse IQ Adjusting Instrument, Extremities, CBP, and Upper Cervical Specific/Toggle.
Insight Subluxation Station
Dr. Kevin Walsh utilizes the Insight Discovery Subluxation Station TM , a State-of-the-Art Five Technology Examination ceritifed by the Space Foundation in cooperation with NASA originally designed to measure changes in the spinal muscles of astronauts. The Technology has been adapted for the Chiropractic profession to provide a painless and non-invasive examination that will help us characterize abnormal activity surrounded your spine. This activity can be associated with a Subluxation which could lead to other health issues beyond your typical physical complaints.
The Insight Discovery Subluxation Station includes the following Five Examinations:
Thermography – The Thermal Scan is used to assess the part of your nervous system that helps to control your organs, glands, and blood vessels, the autonomic system. The instrument does this by precisely measuring differences in temperature along the spine. Since proper function of your organs, glands, and blood vessels is essential to healing and living well, this test gives your doctor a ‘snapshot’ of how this portion of your nervous system is working and how it is responding to care.
Surface and Dynamic EMG – The Surface EMG exam evaluates the function of the muscles that support your spine. These muscles are controlled by nerves. This test shows the pattern of how energy is distributed through these muscles. The exam helps identify areas and patterns of abnormal tension and stress. By precisely measuring muscle activity, your progress can be followed as your care progresses.
Digital ROM – The Range of Motion exam measures the amount of movement in regions of your spine. This exam identifies areas of restricted motion, and shows if one side moves better than the other. Your ranges of motion can also be compared to established normal values. This part of the exam helps your doctor find areas of altered spinal mechanics.
Heart Rate Variability – The HRV or Pulse Wave Profiler helps the doctor to determine your overall ability to adapt to the environment. It does this by looking at the timing of your pulse, and determining the balance and tone of your nervous system. This exam is known as heart rate variability. Proper balance and tone are associated with better adaptability and a healthy lifestyle. Low heart rate variability is associated with aging and poor heart health. Published research has shown that chiropractic adjustments have a beneficial effect on heart rate variability.
Algometry – If there was tenderness felt along your spine or if you were suffering from pain when you consulted the doctor, an Algometry (pain mapping) exam was performed to produce a comprehensive map of the pattern of pain along your spine. This test measures the sensitivity of various locations to pressure.
